Writing in the Dark

Every poet or writer or musician or artist has their muse.

a special person, or artifact, lucky token.

Mine is a time of day…

After the sun sets and my world is set in darkness.

Usually darkness is a sign of

sadness, despair

death, destruction

well, negative things.

But for me I love the dark time for the

Starlight, moon beams, shooting stars, northern lights, wishing stars, campfires

There is a lot of brightness at night.

And for some reason my mind comes alive in the wee hours of the morning.

If I don’t write my thoughts down right away,

I miss them

and I will never remember them.

Night is my time for me time.

I can listen to my music, dance as weirdly as I want

I can do whatever my soul needs for healing.

Writing in the dark is my favorite medicine.

I turn off the lights,

play a new acoustic song from my roommate

and just let my fingers fly across the keyboard.

My heart speaks in poetry and wants to share it with the world.

I write in the darkness, to add another light to the night.

So thank you my muse for:

your healing powers, your inspiration, your guidance,

and your patience and understanding.

Goodnight my muse, and we shall meet again soon!

  1. This is lovely. I feel the same way. I think a lot of creative types like the darkness. It’s mysterious, it’s powerful, it’s immense and we can lose ourselves in the process of trying to define it. It opens up our imagination, and there’s something wonderful about sitting down to a keyboard at night and discovering what comes out.

I absolutely agree, I don’t think I’ve ever had more creative moments than the ones I have at night. dancing outside, acting at night, taking long walks and writing are so much more inspirational when you have a sky full of stars looking down at you!

  2. very true, the night and darkness has its own beauty and life. I liked it alot. :)
